The National Sculpture Society (founded, 1893) in New York City has announced that George Lucas, Lawrence Halprin, and Lawrence Noble will be awarded the Henry Hering Memorial Medal for Art and Architecture in 2014.
The award is given for outstanding collaboration between owner, architect, and sculptor in the distinguished use of sculpture in an architectural project.
The award will be presented this year for the Letterman Digital Arts Center, located in the Presidio, in San Francisco, California.
The recipients of the medals will be the owner, George Lucas; the landscape architect Lawrence Halprin (posthumously); and Lawrence Noble, sculptor of the monumental works of Yoda, Willis O’Brien, Eadweard Muybridge and Philo Farnsworth, which are installed throughout the site.
